Calling all queer photo friends and allies! The 7th edition of Yangon LGBTIQ+ Pride festival is looking for a photography project to be exhibited in a public space in downtown Yangon in February 2021.

There is still widespread discrimination and prejudice towards the LGBTIQ+ community in Myanmar and the country is still plagued by section 377 - a colonial era law making homosexuality illegal. However there are significant changes under way, especially in Yangon, where supportive associations and initiatives are growing in number and more people are coming out in public.

In the last three years Pride has been an enormous success, attracting more than 15,000 visitors for each edition. Unfortunately, the 2021 festival edition will be limited due to the current COVID restrictions, but people will still have the opportunity to safely enjoy the open-air exhibition.

We are looking for stories of resilience from LGBTIQ+ communities in countries where these identities are still fought, discriminated against or not recognized. We would like these worldwide narratives to give a positive outlook on the community - for example reflecting themes of hope, togetherness or inclusiveness.
The selected artist will receive an exhibition fee of 500 USD.
